Since installing SP3 on two of my machines I have not been able to use firefox on them without it freezing at startup. The only work-around I can do to get it to work is to default Firefox and remove it's shortcut toolbar and set it's homepage to the default google one, instead of one on my local drive. Tried reinstalling Firefox also but nothing seems to let it work once SP3 has gone in. Both PC's have the latest Firefox version and all other Windows updates obviusly up to date, also one has some AV software on it, but the other one is a very clean new install and it does not have any AV yet except for Zonealarm firewall that is. Anyone else had issues similar to this and have a fix? Hi supe73, What does your event viewer log tell you after firefox freezes up? You may have a problem with zone alarm firewall. Have you tried to disable it then run firefox? It sounds like it's zone alarm that might be causing your issue! Free app remover for mac. I haven't had problems with firefox and windows xp sp3. Also, try to disable some of your add-ons in firefox. Firefox usually has zero to no problems with sp3! Finally you may want to check to see what is running in the back ground of your computer! Go to task manager and see what is running (Ctrl - Alt- Delete). Please let us know! Take Care, thesunnytexas. Surprisingly, the Firefox situation is a bit better than Chrome's. I just want to install the latest release of Firefox (51.0). However I read following words on the release notes page: 'To install, because of Windows restrictions, the user will have to download Firefox 43.0.1 and then update to the current release.' Running 50.0.2. Couldn't I install it right over top of the existing version? Is this warning valid for the first time installation only? (EDIT: Sorry, it's in the system requirements section, not on the release notes page.) Edited by devilus, 25 January 2017 - 10:45 AM. I am not sure how Mozilla will achieve the update but from the link I provided. Firefox users on XP & Vista will be moved to Firefox ESR Currently, the exact plan is to move all XP and Vista users to Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) in March 2017. Download crazy little thing called love 2 sub indo. Firefox ESRs are Firefox versions (v10, v17, v24, v31, v38, and v45) for which Mozilla provides security updates for extended amounts of time. Currently, the only two supported ESR versions are Firefox ESR 38 and ESR 45. By forcing all Windows XP and Vista users to one of these two ESR versions, Mozilla staff can focus on delivering security updates to only two Firefox versions, instead of 20 or 30.
